Old Course

Description

This was the first course in the Vilamoura area and the Old Course has continued to enjoy playing fame since its creation in 1969. Its secret is its traditional fairways with elevation changes and because of its age they are lined by superb mature pine trees. The course which can be a somewhat tight in places requiring straight play as any erring ball may cause problems with tree trunks that need to be negotiated. Well placed bunkers with doglegs to both left and right add to the enjoyable challenges. The attractive par 3 fourth hole is a potential Hole in One for all levels of players. A course that golfers generally regard as neither too easy and nor too hard to play - so that the Old Course is popular is particularly acceptable to the many levels of handicaps.

Great but slightly disappointed at the end

The course is fantastic and always in great condition, I have always played it early in the day, but this time we booked twilight all you can play. However this is not what it means. We played 18 holes and as we had a buggy thought we would play a few more holes. We had only played a couple of extra holes when the Marshall came and asked if we had a problem, we replied no, and were really enjoying the course when he said why had we not come back in and what were we still doing on the course, I replied we are playing a few more holes as we had twilight all you can play,, to which his reply was twilight golf is 18 holes only.. I think you should re-word twilight all you can play...

The course was fantastic and we were off first which means there was not hold up during our round, loved it. The pro who was organizing our cart first thing in the morning was the most disinterested person at the club, starter was good but pro shop girl stated that shoes were compulsory at all their courses, wrong we didn't have to buy golf shoes at the Victoria and we were not told when booking that this would be a requirement, also she said that we should have booked our clubs online, wrong we could not book the clubs online through algarvegolf. A very pleasant experience.
